Yes, I’m fully aware that we’re 36 hours into September and summer solstice was back in June, but seriously, I’m not good with the timing thing. That would require organization, thinking ahead, and time… all of which I never have; or at least not at the same time. So, on to the solstice of the summer! Yes, the longest day of the year was probably one of the longest days I had ever encountered. I’m used to good ‘ole RVA summer days when the sun is up at 6/6:30 and goes down around 9 something. Here, in Scotland, the sun is up at 4am and down at 11pm. 4am. 4AM! We went camping in May and those tents don’t do a very good job of blocking out the sun at 4am. But, I digress, this year we thought it would be cool to celebrate the longest day with some friends on the salisbury crags. Well, more like our friends thought it would be cool and we agreed and joined in. You know, tomAYto, tomAHto.
It was a wonderful time. We had cheese, wine, chocolate, whiskey, and a belligerent drunk person try and join us and then quickly get bored of us. Good times. Good times indeed.
