Loch Long: Girl’s Weekend Away

Last weekend some wonderful friends and I went to the west coast to Loch Long for a girls’ weekend away! (Woo hoo!) I will just start off by saying Ohmyword this place is gorgeous! And not just the area, but the house we stayed at (Olivia’s parents’ house) is my dream cottage!

And to the best part of the house… and where we spent 90% of our time!

I know right?! Who wouldn’t love this cottage with a view like that? And to top it off (like it needs any toppings…) the sun set behind those mountains so it made for a perfect night cap!

So, on to our weekend…

After some wine, stir fry, watching the sun set, catching my scarf on fire, and me falling asleep on the couch to a crackling fire  the day came to an end and we began our full day at Long Long… and the longest hike I have ever gone on!

And here we are, almost at the end of our hike… our 18km hike (11 miles)!!! Yeah, Olivia’s no longer allowed to pick out group hikes.

After we recovered from our hike we watched the sun set, again, watched “My Week With Marylin”, set off some paper lanterns, and just enjoyed each other’s company.

The next day was kayaking day… well, Emma and Daisy went kayaking. Olivia and I watched them enjoy it for all of 12 seconds.

I’m pretty sure this is in response to one of Olivia’s cheeky comments about Daisy and Emma’s kayaking “skills”. What she lacks in hike picking she well makes up for it in humor. I love you Olivia!

And this is Olivia tripping over a rock.

Welcome back Daisy and Emma! Wet bums and all!

All in all it was one of the best girl’s getaways ever. These friendships are a little bittersweet for me. Daisy and Olivia are leaving for East Africa in August/September and Emma’s destined for ministry greatness and in search of an internship. It’s hard to think about them leaving because I genuinely love all of them. They are such an answer to prayer. I feel so loved by them and appreciate their friendship so much. And now I’m going to have to go back to that faith place and trust God to do that again for me. This is the trend of my life right now. God says, “Go here. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything” and He does but I keep focusing on the things He still needs to work out and forget about what He’s already provided (i.e. amazing friends!). Yeah, this is only flaw #423 I’ve realized about myself since stepping foot on this beautiful island.
So, back to my awesome friends provided to me by my awesome and faithful God. I love them so much! The. End.

  1. Beautiful photos! I’ve driven by Loch Long, but not stayed there. After seeing how pretty it is, I’m adding it to my list of places to visit when we get there.
